‘Idol’ alum to take 12th & Porter stage

When Tennessee native Josiah Leming tried out for “American Idol” he was living in his car.

He is now a whisper away from a major record deal and Monday night will play a show at 12th & Porter.

“There has been multiple major label contacts so I’m excited, dude. Two years ago, I would’ve cut off a couple of my fingers to get in the doors of those major labels so it’s very exciting,” he told News 2.

Leming grew up in Morristown, Tennessee, about three hours from Nashville, but hasn’t exactly felt any pride from the Volunteer State.

Before his appearance on “Idol”, Leming got very few gigs in Nashville, getting turned down at the Bluebird Cafe several times.

“Tennessee’s like the proud father I could never please. It’s like, no matter what I do. I could be the president of the United States of America and I’d come back to Tennessee, and it’s like, oh yeah, it’s Joseph Leming, the drop out,” he said.

Leming has a particular reason to be excited about Monday’s show as his parents are driving in from Morristown to attend and it will be their first show.

The show starts at 8 p.m. and costs $5 to get in.

All ages are welcome.
